- Utah Hockey Club ( š¤ , 30 points, 7-2-0 last week) –
Utah Owner @jelm33:
“Honestly, I think we have been playing really well to start the season. One of our three losses came from a forfeit, and the other two were because our d-man lagged out at the beginning of the 3rd period, and we were essentially shorthanded the rest of the game. Our team is deep, and with playoffs in other leagues going on we haven’t had consistent lines yet this season.”

2. St. Louis Blues ( :Upvote:4 , 27 points, 7-1-1 last week) – The Blues had a very good week, and they currently sit second in the standings. I believe this team can be a solid contender. Apart from Drizzyy60HZ, they donāt have any real superstars. This just seems to be a solid team from top to bottom. As long as everyone can continue to do their part, they have a real chance to pursue something special this season. -Cxshy
3. Ottawa Senators ( š¤ , 26 points, 7-2-0 last week) –
Ottawa AGM @eaglehawk2014:
“I think our team defense has started to come together with all five skaters. What I think we need to improve on is ozone attack time and more Shots. Other than that I think this team will take a big step forward this week.”
Ottawa Owner @xSundin:
“We can communicate a little better on the iceā¦I think we are doing a really good job of putting the puck in the net.”

4. San Jose Sharks ( :Upvote:1 , 22 points, 5-4-0 last week) – The top-scoring team in the Banter went on a bit of a skid to end Week 2, scoring only one goal in three of their last four games before getting their act together in a blowout victory against the Canucks. Owner pkexclusive34 has earned a bit of grace, as heās both built a well-rounded roster and managed to crack the 50-point mark just two weeks into the season. With ample cap space and an offense that is already firing on all cylinders, itāll be worth keeping an eye on how San Jose approaches free agency and the trade market in the coming weeks. -TDK
5. Chicago Blackhawks ( :Downvote:1 , 21 points, 5-4-0 last week) –
Chicago Owner @Ransenhanced:
“We have the reigning Conn Smythe winner in Buckley. He’s a Craig Berube-esque leader. We just made several trades to bring back some of our core members from our Cup run last season, so I really like where we’re at! We have as deep a squad as anyone in the league, but we have to be at the top of our game because there’s a lot more skill in the league this season. You’re going to see a very different Chicago Blackhawks team in Week 3 and onward.”

6. New York Rangers ( :Downvote:4 , 26 points, 5-2-2 this week) – The Rangers took a bit of a step back on paper this week, giving up ground in the standings to both the Blues and the Rangers, but thereās no cause for concern in the Big Apple as they continue to position themselves for a first-round bye in the playoffs. BROLLZ28 has really come into his own as a puck-moving defenseman this season, leading defensemen in assists by a substantial margin. New Yorkās true Achillesā heel in the early going has been the fourth period, as Rangers have lost each and every one of their four overtime games so far. -TDK
7. Seattle Kraken ( :Upvote:9 , 20 points, 7-1-1 last week) – Tied for the biggest jump in the Takes this week, Seattle was one of a couple teams stuck in first gear to start the season that shouldnāt have been. After a week punctuated only by losses to strong Utah and Toronto lineups, the Kraken have awoken from their slumber. The top-end talent is undeniable here, with HxbIbI and Gxrfi both performing well as the focal point of their lines this week, but I would like to see a bit more production from HxbIbI on the blueline. The leagueās most expensive contract is only responsible for four points in his six games played on one of the Banterās most cap-strapped teams. -TDK
8. Toronto Maple Leafs ( :Upvote:9 , 18 points, 7-2-0 last week) – The Maple Leafs have really shown their true colors. Dead last in the standings last week, they find themselves in the top ten this week. They made some big pickups in FA bidding with Flowsoclean and Silverstxin, which really adds confidence when Cartzy9l and dtizz87 arenāt in the lineup. I expect them to continue in this direction. -Cxshy
9. Colorado Avalanche ( :Upvote:1 , 19 points, 5-4-0 last week) –
Colorado GM @maddens26:
“So far the team has been looking solid. We were on a four-game win streak before the unfortunate forfeits due to a lack of ECUs last week. BurntWaffle, EZWORK, and Silkyperry are leading the way, along with Nate_Farms and JustEhGod on defense. Slink and Ob1wan have been very good in net to start out, too. Looking forward to seeing where this season leads this squad.”

10. Vegas Golden Knights ( :Downvote:1, 17 points, 3-5-1 last week) – Vegas did a whole 180 from their performance in the first week. Unfortunately, they lost a good percentage of their roster, and that caused them to fall out of the top ten. They made a very questionable trade, sending tactualone976 to Carolina for jgav30. 𤮠Hopefully this works out for them, and they can figure out a way to consistently stay in the win column. -Cxshy
11. Detroit Red Wings ( :Upvote:4 , 18 points, 5-4-0 last week) –
Detroit GM @XDCXDARK5EID:
“Our team is solid this season. We just need to make a couple changes like any other team to get the right type of chemistry. I am away this week so I feel like I’m letting the team down, but they will be ok. They got this.”
Detroit Owner @BiggDaddyReap:
“We can do better with cycling the puck and not letting up.”

12. Philadelphia Flyers ( :Downvote:1 , 17 points, 3-5-1 last week) – I must say, Philly has surprised me after two weeks of play. Although theyāre not looked at as a top team, I would like to say theyāve been very consistent. They have a very deep roster, and they’re one of only a few teams to have a full 16-man roster. Posting results like these must feel great for xSimpson59x. I believe they still need to add a bit more bite to their bark to really pull this whole thing together for them. -Cxshy
13. Pittsburgh Penguins ( :Upvote:1 , 17 points, 5-3-1 last week) – Letās start with the positives: GM Fowuhl is producing as well as you could hope as one of the leagueās highest scoring players on a per-game basis, and the Pens find themselves in the thick of the playoff race despite a rough goal differential. Better yet, itās no mystery what the problemās been, so maybe it’s an easy fix. Itās a goaltending carousel like Iāve never seen before in Pittsburgh. Theyāve played six different goalies on six different nights, and not a single one has managed to even remotely approach the 80% mark. Either Owner Wise x 31 needs to become their workhorse goalie, or this team absolutely needs to go out and acquire a solid tendy, pronto. -TDK
14. Buffalo Sabres ( :Downvote:6 , 17 points, 2-5-2 last week) – The Sabres were great after Week 1, and have been pretty mid after Week 2. One thing Iāve noticed is this team either blows their opponents out, or they get blown out themselves. Thereās not much consistency with this team. If they can figure out how to stop themselves from coin-flipping games, they may have a chance at becoming a contender this season. -Cxshy
15. Edmonton Oilers ( :Downvote:2 , 15 points, 4-4-1 last week) – The Oilers aren’t exactly turning heads so far, but I believe this is an Edmonton management group quietly making some solid moves. Both GoonThaBearded and GlROUX28 had really strong first weeks with the team, most notably starring in a 3-0 night on Tuesday. The Oilers have the opposite problem weāve seen from most other teams in the Banter so far this season. Thereās too many supporting pieces, too much filler, and not enough premier talent. If Iām the Oil I look at retaining some cap and moving a couple pieces out for whoever the next gamechanger on the trade block is, because it could be the difference between treading water and a playoff berth. -TDK
16. Carolina Hurricanes ( :Downvote:4 , 14 points, 3-6-0 last week) – What can I say, the Canes have been pretty bad. They had a mediocre week, and I guess thatās all it took for II Hitzy II to give Torvechkin- the green light to blow it up after being promoted to AGM. They managed to move jgav30 and his huge contract, which has given them plenty of room to make some quality moves to plug & play into their lineup. Torvechkin acquired players heās familiar with that can definitely contribute to winning games. Iām feeling very confident that we will not see another bad week from Carolina. There’s a big storm coming. šŖļø -Cxshy
17. Montreal Canadiens ( :Downvote:10 , 13 points, 1-8-0 last week) –
Montreal Owner @Rigsbacane:
“Well, we’re 3rd in shots on goal but 18th in goals. We’re getting plenty of scoring chances, we just aren’t putting them in the back of the net. Just gotta keep up the pressureā¦While we aren’t losing games by much, we’re still losing games, and we have areas to clean up all-around. Need to improve the turnover numbers, slow down a bit, and make better decisions with the puck. Week 1, we got out to a good start, and Week 2 was rough. We made some moves to see if they can help fix some of the holes [in our roster] and have more successā¦We do feel like we have a great group of guys and look forward to turning things around moving forward.”

18. Vancouver Canucks ( š¤ , 6 points, 0-9-0 last week) – It wasn’t an easy choice putting the Canucks in last to open the Takes despite a 3-6 start, but it sure has paid dividends. Vancouver put up the Banterās first āperfectā week of the season, going winless before turning over a sizable portion of their roster over the weekend. Owner xzennr has let up close to seven goals a game on average, and thereās not much to be said of his roster construction here, but his team deserves a pat on the back for showing up and even playing somewhat competitively against a couple marquee opponents this week in Utah and St. Louis. If youāre an opponent, itās probably okay to sleep on Vancouver. If youāre on the roster, itās time to wake up! -TDK
